TLHS Students Volunteer at La Luz and NMSBVI – Every Thursday, the ninth graders from TLHS go out into the community as part of their service learning. Among the sites where they volunteer, students help at two other schools located in the SS&TP – the La Luz Early Childhood Center and the NM School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The students support classroom teachers on projects, outside recess supervision, and facilitation of activities, providing an extra set of hands, eyes, and ears. These volunteer activities are fun for the students, useful to the community, and teach students valuable skills that will transfer to career, college, and life.
The QC Group Acquired by IIA – The QC Group has recently become a part of Industrial Inspection & Analysis, Inc. (IIA) and is now under the legal name QC Group, LLC. IIA is a high-growth industrial inspection business that is building national-level service across a wide variety of testing disciplines and industries. Headquartered in Atlanta, GA, IIA has 7 offices nationwide. As part of IIA, QC Group will be in a better position to grow with its current and future customers and add capacity for quality-related services including dimensional inspection measurements, reverse engineering with scanning, 3D CAD modeling, and more. Sandia is one of the company’s largest customers, making the SS&TP location cost-efficient and convenient.
MSI Expands Services – MicroNet Solutions, Inc. (MSI), a company in the SS&TP, is offering new Patent Infringement Services for IC design houses and law firms which specialize in IP representation. Services include complete physical and electrical extraction of circuit layouts, and functionality, to provide evidence for relevant patent claims.
Art of the Reactor Special Exhibition – The National Museum of Nuclear Science and History is featuring a special exhibit that invites visitors of all ages to become visually engulfed in the brilliantly engineered renderings of nuclear reactors while uncovering their inner-artist by designing and creating one-ofa-kind artwork. Exhibit is on display now through April 24, 2016.
Center for Collaboration and Commercialization – The Entrepreneur Exploration Bootcamp “Commercializing Technology” featuring Wasabi Ventures and NM Angels was held on January 14 at the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History. This event was an opportunity to learn the first steps to commercializing technology from the perspective of venture capitalists. Discussions ranged from identifying market applications to financing strategies. Over 20 Sandians participated in the session.
