Cyber Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) Open House – CERL held an Open House on February 19 in the Sandia Science & Technology Park (SS&TP). The event provided an overview of the Cyber Engineering Research Institute (CERI) and highlighted cyber security research activities at CERL. Many federal, state, and local officials, community business leaders, and Sandia representatives attended and spoke at the event. CERI is a virtual organization spanning Sandia National Laboratories’ two main sites. CERI includes two facilities: CERL in the SS&TP in New Mexico, and the Cyber Technology Research Laboratory (CTRL) in the Livermore Valley Open Campus in California. CERL was established outside of Sandia’s gates to build a cyber research community and facilitate hosting of academic, industry, and government collaborators. The facility houses a human performance lab, innovation lab, and a research center; EMCORE Corporation – The company held a celebration on February 26 at their SS&TP headquarters, commemorating thedelivery of 1 million high-efficiency, multi-junction solar cells toSSL (formerly Space Systems/Loral). EMCORE began supplying SSL with high-efficiency, multi-junction solar cells more than 10 years ago. In May 2009, they announced a long-term supply agreement with SSL to continue manufacturing and delivering solar cells for their spacecraft programs through 2014. State and local officials, community business leaders, Sandia and Air Force Research Laboratory representatives, and EMCORE executives and employees attended and spoke at the event. EMCORE is a leading provider of compound semiconductor-based components and subsystems for the fiber optic and solar power markets.
